Ray Fitzpatrick's 1994-95 Annual Research Report
Ray Fitzpatrick (Faculty Fellow) continued to work on a variety of research projects on the themes of patient satisfaction, health status and quality of life. He continued to work with Crispin Jenkinson (Department of Public Health and Primary Care) on Parkinsons Disease and with orthopaedic surgical colleagues at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre on outcomes of orthopaedic surgery. He was awarded funds by the National Health Service Executive to carry out a systematic review of factors influencing outcomes and costs of total hip replacement surgery. He continued as a member of the Medical Research Council Health Services and Public Health Research Board (HSPHRB) and was invited to be the first chairman of the newly formed MRC HSPHR Grants Committee. He was also invited to be a member of the also newly formed Anglia and Oxford Regional Health Authority Health Services Research Committee. In August he presented an invited paper on the future of medical sociology or the American Sociological Association conference in Washington.
