International Organisations

Below is an alphabetical list of international organisations that publish books and journals with official information and statistics. All of these organisations are well-represented in Nuffield College Library.


Council of Europe
This site includes the latest news on the Council of Europe's activities, as well as links to publications, multimedia material and press releases.


European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions
This site provides case studies and interactive databases that explore employment and working conditions, work–life balance, industrial relations and partnership and social cohesion. Many publications are available as PDFs.


European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
This site links to the EFTA's three institutions: the Secretariat (including PDFs of EFTA publications), the EFTA Surveillance Authority and the EFTA Court. EEA Grants is also linked.


European Union
The Europa site act as a gateway to a huge number of resources on the European Union, including official documents and the EU Bookshop. These resources can be accessed through subject, institution or type of service. The site for the European Parliament is mostly searchable by subject, with information about member countries and their MEPs available.


Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
This site focuses on the FAO's governing bodies and its procurement service for food security. It contains news of projects run by the FAO in addition to global information about various food and agriculture issues. Press releases and publications are also available.


International Labour Organization (ILO)
The site offers information about the UN agency's efforts to bring together governments, employers and workers of its member states. Included is information about the ILO's publications, events, campaigns, projects and more.


International Monetary Fund (IMF)
This site contains information about the IMF's guiding principles and current practices. Data and statistics are presented on a variety of topics. Also available is information about IMF publications and member countries.


Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
This site contains a variety of resources browsable by topic, country or department. OECD country websites includes news, activities and publications about each OECD member country. The iLibrary, an online repository of all OECD publications published since 1998, is fully available to Oxford members on the university network.


United Nations (UN)
The UN's site provides background on current issues and areas of work, as well as information on member countries and the organisation's structure. Publications can be explored at the UN Documentation Centre and Official Documents of the United Nations.


World Bank
This site encompasses a considerable amount of information on the policies and practice of this organisation. The Publications & Documents section includes over 65,000 free, downloadable World Bank documents.


World Health Organization (WHO)
This site emphasises issues of world health through reports and statistics, reflecting work in a number of countries. Publications are available for purchase from the shop or for free download from the WHO Library. Use the Library's database to locate full-text links.


World Trade Organization (WTO)
The WTO site contains news, trade topics and resources. The site also provides access to a number of WTO documents and reports. The GATT Digital Library provides access to documents published by the WTO's predecessor from 1947-1994.
