Bernie Hogan is a research fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute and Research Associate at Nuffield College, Oxford. He completed his doctorate in 2008 at the University of Toronto under Barry Wellman. His work focuses primarily on ego-centered networks, either through respondent recall or behavioral traces (such as email discussion). His current work (in collaboration with danah boyd Microsoft Research) focuses on how perceptions of personal network structure on Facebook lead to differences in identity management and self-presentation. This work is part of a long-term project on effective social
network-oriented interview strategies.
