DPhil in Politics

I am a DPhil candidate in Politics. In my DPhil thesis, I am seeking to offer a philosophical examination of the ethics and politics of social rights: claims pertaining to personal relationships and social interactions. Specifically, I am interested in establishing a) whether persons have social rights; and b) what these rights might entail for how the state should treat us, and how we should treat each other.

My other research interests include: the ethics of harming and rescuing; the justification and practice of punishment; and normative political economy.

Before coming to Nuffield, I completed an MPhil in Politics: Political Theory (Distinction) at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford, where I was a Fletcher Scholar. Before that, I completed a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Studies (First Class) at the University of Warwick.
