I am professor at the Department of Government Uppsala University, Sweden. I specialize in political theory, and have written on topics related to the democratic boundary question, the state, legitimacy, the people and representation. Lately, I have come to take an interest in more social issues, such as precarity, the relationship between democracy and justice, and the social model of democratic self-defense. I have recently finished two books on democracy: The Spirit of Democracy: Corruption, Disintegration, Renewal (OUP 2021) and a popular science book on democracy in Swedish: Demokrati. En liten bok om en stor sak (Historiska Media, 2021). During my visit at Nuffield College I will work on a new book project: Democracy and the Social Question.
