Biographical Sketch

 

Raymond Duch is an Official Fellow at Nuffield College.  He is also the Director of the Nuffield Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS).  Prior to assuming these positions he was a Professor of Quantitative Political Science at Oxford and the Senator Don Henderson Scholar in Political Science at the University of Houston.  He has had recent visiting appointments at IAST, Toulouse School of Economics, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Pompeu Fabra University.  He has served on the Planning Committee for the American National Election Studies; was a member of the National Science Foundation Political Science Advisory Panel; and chaired the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Advisory Committee on International Issues.  Currently he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Experimental Political Science.  His recent research employs experimental methods in order to understand how citizens hold political agents accountable; employing similar methods he has been studying tax compliance, redistributive preferences and inequality.  His recent teaching has focused on designing and implementing experiments and experimental approaches to data analysis.   He is the author of the award-winning book, The Economic Vote and has published extensively in the leading academic journals.​
