Ann-Kathrin Reinl is a PhD candidate at the GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Cologne. In 2016, she graduated with honours from her Masters program in Sociology and Empirical Social Research at the University of Cologne and after graduating she worked as a research assistant at the chair of Political Science Research Methods at the University of Regensburg. During this time she taught several classes on research methods and right-wing populism. In March 2018 she joined the research project Solikris- Change through Crisis? Solidarity and Desolidarization in Germany and Europe-based at GESIS Cologne as a doctoral researcher.
Her research interests lie in political attitudes and electoral behaviour with a special focus on the European Union and public attitudes towards European integration. Her dissertation deals with transnational solidarity in times of European crises. Her academic research has already been published in edited volumes as well as in the Journal of Comparative European Politics.
Prof. Geoffrey Evans will act as her supervisor during her time at Nuffield College. Moreover, she will be affiliated with the Department of Politics and International Relations.
