Charles Lanfear
Research Interests: Social Control, Criminology, Urban Sociology, Quantitative Methods
Charles Lanfear is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Social Investigation and a Research Fellow at Nuffield College. He received his PhD in Sociology at the University of Washington in 2021.
His primary research focuses on how characteristics of communities impact crime and social control. He approaches this topic with methods from demography, computational social science, and causal inference. He also teaches courses and workshops on programming for data analysis with R. He is a committed advocate for reproducible research, and his replication files and course materials are open access via his public website, GitHub account, and YouTube channel.
