Research Interests: Social genomics, mental health, chronotype, quantitative methods, and causal inference 

Evelina Akimova’s main research areas are health inequalities, chronotype, and wellbeing where she adopts a sociogenomic approach to understand the complex interplay between biological and socio-demographic determinants of health outcomes. She also focuses on applying molecular genetics to advance the understanding of how mental health problems, and genetic predispositions to these problems, are associated with labour market decisions, trajectories, and experiences.

Evelina received her DPhil in Sociology at the University of Oxford in 2021. Since June 2021, she has been working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Biosocial Research at the Department of Sociology and the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science. She is working on a project funded by the ERC Advanced Grant CHRONO led by Prof. Melinda Mills.
