Maria is an MPhil student in Sociology and Demography. Her research uses quantitative methods to bring clarity to human rights violations, especially in settings where data is incomplete. Her thesis work focuses on the underdocumentation of feminicide in Mexico and the impacts of this violence on population health.

Her research is supported by a Clarendon Scholarship, a Nuffield College Award, and a Rotary Global Grant. Prior to joining Oxford, Maria completed a bachelor of science in statistics & data science and Spanish at Yale University.
