Research Interests: political ignorance; public deliberation; hate speech; democratic theory
I work on issues at the intersection of political philosophy, social epistemology, and philosophy of language. I’m currently examining the epistemic and linguistic obstacles that stand in the way of countering political misinformation and hate speech with more speech. My doctoral dissertation investigated the respective roles of anger and civility in the public discourse of severely divided democracies. Before coming to Nuffield, I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge.
