DPhil in Politics
Research Interests: Political Economy, Comparative Politics and Government.
I am a second year MPhil student in Politics (Comparative Government), supervised by Professor Desmond King. I graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Essex, having read Philosophy, Politics and Economics. My undergraduate dissertation – “Rational Choice Theory's failure to predict labour-market policy initiatives in Italy” was awarded the Oscar Arias Prize for the Best Undergraduate Dissertation.
My research interests include political economy and labour economics. I also have an interest in research methodology. My MPhil dissertation incorporates these interests by analyzing the consequences of the changing structure of labour markets, triggered by the gig economy, on social spending demand.
