Sophia is a PhD candidate in Political Science at Yale University. She studies housing policy preferences, activism and local political participation in Germany, Britain and the United States. Her dissertation, titled "The Local Politics of Housing," uses both qualitative, computer-assisted text analysis and experimental methods to understand the structure of the legal and legislative system around housing and the drive behind local political participation, conceptualized in broad terms. In addition to the dissertation project, she also works on how the Grenfell Tower Fire shapes housing and political preferences, and in the case of Germany how energy prices induce burden and contribute to housing unaffordability.
