Sven Hegewald is a PhD candidate in European Politics at the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS), ETH Zurich. In his research, Sven draws on insights from social psychology, geography, and political science, to study territorial divisions in political behaviour. Specifically, his dissertation investigates how place-based identities shape political conflict along the urban-rural divide in Europe. His work has been published in European Union Politics and the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties.
