Apprentice Commis Chef (14-18 months Fixed Term Contract

Nuffield College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Apprentice Commis Chef to assist the kitchen team in the preparation and service of food. You must have a passion for cooking and a desire to learn and develop within a kitchen environment.
You will receive full training in the kitchen, learning all aspects of the role including food safety, basic food preparation and cooking techniques. In addition, you will be expected to work towards a Commis Chef Apprenticeship qualification, spending one day a week studying at a local further education college.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, willing to learn and have a genuine desire to pursue a career as a professional chef and be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills. She or he must also be able to work effectively under pressure and as part of a small team, and be able to communicate clearly and professionally. The successful candidate may be given the option to pursue a further apprenticeship as Chef de partie when qualified as Commis Chef.
The hours of work are full-time, 35 hours a week, on a straight/split shift rota which will include some evenings and weekends. The person appointed will also be expected to undertake some overtime, as required.
