'Taking Up Space As Yourself' for International Women's Day 2025

Professorial Jane Green gave her advice on navigating academia to College and university members for International Women’s Day 2025

Last term (Hilary Term 2024), Nuffield Professorial Fellow Jane Green gave the annual Nuffield International Women’s Day talk to students and staff from within Nuffield and from the wider university community.

Jane is a very familiar face both around College – where she directs the Nuffield Politics Research Centre – and more widely as Professor of Political Science and British Politics at the DPIR, Co-Director of the British Election Study and President of the British Polling Council. She has been busy over the past year providing expert commentary on the UK General Election across the media, especially on ITV News, where she provided election analysis and explainers in the run-up to and on the night of the election.

Jane’s International Women’s Day talk on 'Taking Up Space As Yourself' focused on navigating the demands of academia with authenticity. She focused particularly on ways of finding your own path in research and discussed insightful questions from the audience about how to align your career with your values. We are enormously grateful to Jane for a wonderful and thought-provoking afternoon!

Jane’s talk took place at Nuffield on 13 March 2025.
