Work, care and gender during COVID-19

A paper by Nuffield Fellow Barbara Petrongolo with coauthor Claudia Hupkau which uses data from Understanding Society study to examine the effects of COVID-19 restrictions on the paid and unpaid work for men and women.

Barbara was interviewed about her research for a Reuters Salesforce Resilience Recast podcast episode on 'The Rise of Women – Empowering Women to Remain Resilient in their Careers' (13 May 2021). This research was also quoted in 'Are men-dominated offices the future of the workplace?', an article on BBC News Online (6 May 2021).
