Anica Waldendorf

Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow

I am a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow in Sociology at Nuffield College. I have a broad research interest in social inequality, in particular gender inequality. In my research, I explore dynamics of social change and network diffusion using a combination of experimental, computational, and qualitative methods. My current projects include, for example, investigating the impact of anti-LGTBQIA+ legislation on gender and LGBTQIA+ attitudes and tracing the network diffusion of gender-inclusive language.

I hold a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy). In my dissertation "The power of language. The use, effect, and spread of gender-inclusive language", I explored the phenomenon of gender-inclusive language from a sociological perspective using a combination of different empirical methods (quantitative text analysis, a digital field experiment, qualitative interviews, and ego-centric network analysis).
