Emma Romell

Non-Stipendiary Research Fellow
Postdoctoral Researcher at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science

Dr. Emma Romell is a multidisciplinary social demographer with wide-ranging interests in inequality and wellbeing, working on the SEXRATIO project with Dr. Joshua Wilde at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science. She is also a Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research engages questions relating to fertility, families, and maternal and reproductive health, with an emphasis on inequality by gender and race. Much of her current work asks whether and how family structure shapes wellbeing across the life course, both in the United States and Europe. She is also involved in research on contraceptive autonomy and the measurement of access to contraception.

Prior to joining LCDS, Emma completed her PhD in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
