DPhil in Sociology

I am a DPhil candidate focussing on political sociology, particularly the voting behaviour of immigrant and ethnoreligious minority groups. I hold an MSc in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics, and a BA (Hons) in History and Politics from Trinity College, Oxford.

My MSc dissertation examined the role of broad trust as a concept in understanding the breakdown of support for the Labour Party among British Muslims in the context of the Labour Party's policies towards conflict in the Middle East in the 2024 General Election.

As a DPhil candidate my research primarily examines how foreign policy decisions influence the partisan preferences of ethno-religious minority groups across a range of contexts in the democratic world.

Beyond this focus my research interests include populism (both the theory of populism and sociological drivers of its success and failure), electoral geography and the influence of electoral systems on preference formation, and the relationship between class and partisan behaviour.

Outside of my research at the University of Oxford, I have also worked as a Research Fellow at More in Common, a not-for-profit social cohesion think tank and political consultancy firm.
