Jordan Walters
SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow, Faculty of Philosophy, Oxford
I am a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Non-Stipendiary Research Fellow at Nuffield College.
In July 2027 I will join the University of Western Australia as a Lecturer in Philosophy.
I work on big picture questions about dignity, equality, and rights, asking what makes us worthy of equal concern and respect and how that equality ought to shape our social and political relations across the past, present, and future.
Another strand of my research examines the promise and limits of nonideal theorizing in moral and political philosophy and how it can both clarify and constrain our understanding of justice and injustice.
I received my PhD in Philosophy from McGill University in 2025, where I was supervised by Chris Howard and Daniel Weinstock. At McGill, I was a Doctoral Fellow with RGCS, GRIPP, CRÉ, and GRIN, and my doctoral research was supported by the Joseph-Armand Bombardier SSHRC Doctoral Scholarship to Honour Nelson Mandela, along with several other fellowships.
