Sarah Brakebill-Hacke
Sarah Brakebill-Hacke is a political strategist, researcher, and PhD student at the University of Oxford, specializing in the intersection of food security and conflict. With nearly a decade of experience in electoral politics, international relations, and policy analysis, she combines academic rigor with real-world insights to address global security and development challenges.
Sarah has conducted research at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, contributing to General H.R. McMaster's Geotrends team, where she focused on human security, environmental challenges, and population health. She has also worked with The Asia Foundation, addressing the complex issue of overgrazing in Mongolia’s grasslands and developing policy solutions. Additionally, she collaborated with Womankind Kenya on initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of pastoralist women.
In 2022, Sarah ran as a U.S. Congressional candidate in Minnesota, finishing second in a competitive primary. Her extensive experience in electoral politics, combined with expertise in public policy and grassroots organizing, continues to shape her work in international governance and security studies. She holds a Bachelor’s in Global Affairs from Yale University and two Master’s degrees: one in International Policy from Stanford University and another in Human Evolution from the University of Cambridge.
As a Clarendon Scholar at Oxford, Sarah’s research explores how food scarcity can drive conflict, bridging academic inquiry with practical solutions for global security challenges.
