Salary: £37,185 to £47,585 per annum (pro-rata if appropriate)
Nuffield College is looking for an Alumni Relations Executive to lead an imaginative and varied programme of alumni engagement. We thrive to bring Nuffield’s social science research into the world and to people beyond just the alumni network. This is a unique chance to join a small, supportive team at one of the University of Oxford’s postgraduate colleges, dedicated to excellence in the Social Sciences. Since its launch in 2015, the Development Office has raised funds primarily to endow scholarships and we’ve built a warm and engaged community of about 1500 alumni around the world. Our Warden, Dame Julia Black CBE FBA, was the President of the British Academy until very recently and is an inspiring advocate for the Humanities and Social Sciences.
In this role, you will take the lead in creating an intellectual yet lively and imaginative programme of events and activities that connect our alumni with the College, wherever they may be. From high-profile speaker evenings and reunions to mentoring opportunities, publications and digital engagement, you will ensure our alumni feel a lasting sense of connection with Nuffield. You will work closely with Fellows, students, donors and colleagues across the College, making this a role that is as collaborative as it is creative.
We are looking for someone organised and adaptable, a real team player who can help shape the next phase of alumni relations at Nuffield. You will bring a repertoire of “tools” to make Alumni Relations effective and come up with solid ideas for people interested in Social Sciences whose work directly impacts the world’s most pressing issues, past, present and future. You are great in spotting opportunities for engagement, and able to segment and think about how alumni relations can evolve to meet the needs of our community. Previous experience in alumni relations, development, communications or events would be valuable, but above all we are looking for excellent communication skills, great multitasking skills, initiative and the confidence to take ideas forward.
This is an amazing opportunity to make your mark in higher education development& alumni relations, supported by a close-knit team and the wider University of Oxford’s network. If you are excited by the opportunity to drive a dynamic alumni relations programme and broaden Nuffield’s reach, we would love to hear from you.
Our benefits package includes 41 days annual leave inclusive of public holidays and closed periods at Christmas and Easter, free meals whilst on duty, a season-ticket loan scheme, and contributory pension scheme. Reduced rates for the membership at the University’s sports facilities (i.e. Rosenblatt Pool) are another benefit, as well as free access to Oxford University Libraries, reduced rates for the Botanic gardens or the Ashmolean Museum exhibitions.
Full details of the role, including selection criteria and information on how to apply can be found in the Job Description.
