Lodge Receptionist / Porter (part-time)

Application Deadline: Sunday 29th June 2025

Salary: £26,565 per annum / £14.60 per hour

This brand-new full-time post has been created to support College operations which take place in the evenings.  Working with other members of the team in our newly refurbished Lodge the postholder will assist us to ensure the high service we deliver during the day is carried through into the evening.  As the first point of contact for College members and visitors, the Lodge at Nuffield College plays an important role in supporting the College’s activities and in making those who visit, study, or work in the College feel welcome.

The successful applicant will be expected to work between 16:30 to 23:30 during term-time.  Although it’s expected these hours will be carried out between Monday and Friday, some weekend work and late finishes (up to 1:30am) will be required as part of the role.  Outside of term the postholder will be expected to take their annual leave entitlement and cover annual leave for others in the team.  This will involve working early shifts (06:45 – 15:30), mid shifts (08:30 – 17:15) and late shifts (15:00 – 23:45), and some of these will fall on the weekend.  Flexibility for this role is essential.  Any additional hours worked will be paid as overtime at a rate of time and a half.  Previous experience in a customer-facing role and strong IT skills are essential.  This role will also involve lone working.

Our benefits package includes 41 days annual leave (pro-rata for part-time) inclusive of public holidays and closed periods at Christmas and Easter, free meals whilst on duty, a season-ticket loan scheme, and contributory pension scheme.
