Claire Walsh

DPhil in Public Policy

Claire is a part-time DPhil student in Public Policy at Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government. She is also the Associate Director of Policy at J-PAL Global at MIT where she works with policymakers and J-PAL affiliated researchers around the world to promote evidence-informed policy to reduce poverty and fight climate change. She is the Project Director for J-PAL’s King Climate Action Initiative, which evaluates innovative climate policies and technologies in the real world and works together with policy partners to scale effective and equitable climate solutions.

In addition to poverty reduction and climate change, her main area of policy and research interest is taxation and public economics. Her current research focuses on tax policy and administration in developing countries, particularly in Indonesia. Claire holds an MA from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Development Economics and International Business Relations and a BA in Anthropology from Vassar College.
