European thesis prize for former Nuffield DPhil student

Former Nuffield DPhil student Felix Busch (DPhil Sociology 2014) has been awarded the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ESCR) Thesis Prize for 2020 for his thesis on ‘Gender Segregated Labor Markets’.

On receiving the award Felix, who is now a Postdoc at the University of Zurich, commented:

“I am elated to have received this award. Receiving an award for work that was done over a four year period almost feels surreal, and it is a great reminder that the research we work on as PhD students can truly reach the scientific community.

“I am grateful for the ECSR's recognition, and for the support of Nuffield College, the Sociology Department at Oxford, and my new team at the University of Zurich, who have all provided me with the best environment to develop my thesis.”

The prize is awarded to the best theoretically based empirical study in sociology. Other previous winners have included current Nuffield Fellows Ridhi Kashyap and Zachary Van Winkle.
