Nuffield Fellow Steve Bond elected Fellow of the Econometric Society

Many congratulations to Professor Steve Bond, Senior Research Fellow in Economics, who has been awarded a Fellowship of the Econometric Society in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the study of economics.

The Econometric Society is an illustrious international institution which aims to advance economic theory in its relation to mathematics and statistics. As a politically and financially independent body, the Society can operate on a purely scientific basis without bias, and so it is particularly highly regarded. Fellowship of the Society is awarded only to the most distinguished academics, and we are very pleased to see Steve acknowledged in this way.

Steve has a range of specialist areas, but he is particularly renowned for his work on applied microeconometrics. His focus is on the investment and financial behaviour of firms – an area that has been in the public eye a great deal in recent years. He also works on corporate taxation, which is another very topical area of research.

In addition, Steve works on panel data analysis, and was recognised for this in 2018 when he was named a Citation Laureate by Clarivate Analytics, joining a small group of highly cited scientists and economists representing researchers whose influence is comparable to that of past and future Nobel Prize recipients. We are delighted that Steve’s work continues to be honoured at the highest international levels.
