Warden

The Fellows of Nuffield College intend to elect a new Warden as head of the College to succeed Sir Andrew Dilnot, who will retire in September 2024.

Nuffield College is a graduate college of the University of Oxford dedicated to advanced study and research in the social sciences, particularly economics, politics, and sociology. Nuffield is one of the premier academic institutions in the world for study of the social sciences and is recognized for its innovative research addressing contemporary social science issues using advanced methods. The College’s relatively small size gives it a great sense of community.

The Warden acts as head of the College, chairing its main committees, representing and advancing its interests within and outside Oxford, and providing leadership for the College community as a whole. The Warden is the outward-facing leader of the College and there is a substantial social component to the role.

Nuffield seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates who have achieved distinction in their professional field. Qualified candidates will demonstrate intellectual credibility, administrative sophistication, and an affinity with the College’s core academic values of excellence, rigour, innovation in social science research and commitment to diversity. They will be outstanding leaders, ready to sustain and advance the College’s diverse community and the networks and partnerships which enable it to thrive

Nuffield College has retained Russell Reynolds Associates to advise on this appointment. Further particulars for the role are available in the Position Specification.

Expressions of interest are invited before the middle of August 2023.
