Ebenezer Agetiba
I am a doctoral student in politics specialising in comparative politics and the political economy of development. My research investigates the political representation, policy preferences, and governmental responsiveness concerning disabled people in Sub-Saharan Africa. I employ mixed methods, qualitative (elite and non-elite interviews) with process tracing as the dominant analytical framework, combined with survey experiments to answering my research questions.
My research is grounded in my lived experience as a disabled (visually impaired) person from rural northern Ghana. My scholarly ambition is to advance theoretically informed and policy-relevant research, with substantive relevance of improving the political representation and socioeconomic conditions of disabled people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned two master's degrees from Oxford: an MSc in African Studies (2022-2023) and an MPhil in Politics (Comparative Government, 2024-2026). I obtained my BA in Political Science from the University of Ghana in 2020. Beyond my academic pursuits, I am a strong advocate for disability inclusion.
I welcome any opportunity for academic collaborations on comparative disability politics, political representation, and inclusive governance in Sub-Saharan Africa.
